The Mindanao University of Science and Technology graduating students of the Secondary Laboratory School demonstrated an excellent performance through out Region X during the annual National Career Assessment Examination (NCAE) conducted by Department of Education last August 27, 2010.
NCAE was developed in order to advance the quality of education especially in secondary level graduates entering college. The said examination guides graduating students in determining the career track they should take with the results of the three domains of the test namely: General Scholastic Aptitude, Technical-Vocational Aptitude, and Entrepreneurial Skills. The test results will validate the previously thought career choice by showing the student's strengths and weaknesses in the aforementioned domains.
Accordingly, MUST-SLS students scored high roughly in all components of the examination as they got a descriptive rating of above average for General Scholastic Aptitude (GSA) with a mean percentile rank of 91.95, and ratings of average for Technical-Vocational Aptitude (TVA) and Entrepreneurial Skills (ES) results with mean percentile ranks of 81.83 and 80.56 respectively. The excellent rating for the GSA indicates that out of 100 examinees from MUST-SLS, 29 scored excellent with a percentile rank of 99+ in scientific ability, 14 in mathematical ability and 2 verbal ability tests. Further, the high median value of 97% for the over-all GSA result signifies that more than 50% of the examinees got a percentile rank 97 and beyond.
The results definitely manifest MUST-SLS fourth year high school students' preparedness and high leaning towards science-related and engineering fields as shown by their high percentile rank 91.95 in General Scholastic Aptitude which is above average.
