BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGY
AND MANAGEMENT (BSETM)
Basic Electricity – This Course deals with the Basic Principle and Fundamental Laws of Electricity. Its focus is on the following practices, Skills and Techniques, Identification and Usage of various tools for simple electric circuits and usage of basic electrical measuring instruments.
Residential Wiring – This Course deals more on the study of Principles of Operations of Low Voltage equipment installed at home, in offices, in commercial and industrial establishments that are approved under Philippine standards and National standards. This also covers the approved wiring methods for residential wiring installations.
Electronic Workshop – This course covers electronics components, and their characteristics including electronics circuits, electronics control and their applications, interpretation or standard electronic symbol and their application. It also includes PCN designing, soldering technique and the introduction to integrated circuit (IC).
Commercial Wiring and Appliance Servicing – This course covers the approved wiring methods for commercial establishments that are accepted local, national and international standard. It also deals with trouble shooting and repair of common electrical appliances such as heating and motor driven appliances.
Electromechanical ConstructionaI – This course deals with the study of direct rotating machineries, alternating current rotating machineries, principles and construction of transformer. It also covers basic theory and skills of metal works such as electric arc welding.
Industrial Wiring – This course covers deals with the study of different types and technique of industrial wiring applicable, specifically, wiring installed using rigid metal, conduct wire ways and bus ways. And also deals with the use of fuses and circuit breakers for over current protection.
Industrial Control (Manual, Semi-Automatic/Automatic) – This course is designed to provide the students with knowledge, develop basic skills, proper attitudes and desirable habits in the installation, design, interpretation, connection, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of industrial control and related equipment.
Electric Circuits – This course covers the basic principles of electric circuits, which compose direct current circuits and alternating current circuit. It provides basic knowledge in preparing a study in advanced circuit theory.
Electromechanical Construction II – The subject aims to equip the students with the basic concepts and acquired skills of pneumatics and electro pneumatics and their application in industry. It also deals on the different components of pneumatics electro pneumatics leading to circuit design and implementation.
Electrical Machines and Drives – The subject aims to provide students the basic concepts and working principles of common types of electrical machines and drivers used in industries. It also includes the study of working principles, construction, speed control, protection and industrial applications of transformer, DC motors induction motors.
Sensors and Actuators Technology – This course exposes students to various types of sensors and actuators used in building and monitoring control. Students will also learn about the criteria used for selecting the appropriate sensors or actuators for specific applications.
Preventive Maintenance and Safety Practice with Introduction to Clean Room Technology – This subject provides the students essential knowledge on sanitation work ethics and preventive maintenance applicable at home, in school and in the work place. To make the students a better worker or technician which enable to make ethical judgments all the time when performing their work especially in industry.
Philippine Electrical/Electronics Code – This subject provides the students basic knowledge on the safety rules for safe guarding persons and property from hazards arising from electrical installations, operation and maintenance of electrical conductors, including optical fiber public and private buildings, generating plants, transformers substation, airfields, parking areas, industrial plants, yards watercrafts, quarries, and mines, off share facilities and dockyards.
On-the-job-Training – Application of technological skills and knowledge cooperative arrangement with industrial establishment and professional agencies where the trainee has to undergo intensive training under a specialist.
Process and Factory Automation – This subject covers the theory of analog and digital control engineering and its application in the automation process of modern industry.
Research Project I – This considerable emphasis in placed on Project Design I and II which the final level, the students have to work on for academic year. The students usually work in a group of 5 and one of them will be the team leader. Project titles on system design and integration, research and development computer applications and others are allotted to students groups to work on. Students can suggest their own project with should be innovative, engineering in contents and relevant to local industries. To be able to complete the project, students must understand the project requirements work closely with the project supervisors on design, plan test and analysis of results and posses a good standard of technical skills.
Seminars and Field Trips – The subject provides the students the opportunities to visit different industries to observe and appreciate how engineering principles are translated into processes and to be able the students to gain additional knowledge and to enhance the theories they have learned.
Power Distribution and Protection with Introduction to SCADA – This subject provides the students with knowledge of high voltage and low voltage distribution system, the equipment used, the protection safety schemes and devices required for the protection. It also deals on the economical aspects in the design of distribution system, selection of equipment, test, commission procedures and the necessary safety measures required in the operation and maintenance of electrical equipment. It also includes the basic application of SCADA system.
Mechanical Workshop Practice – This course deals with the knowledge and skills in shielded metal arc welding, classification of welding materials, welding accessories protection, welding techniques and safety according to local and international standard.
Power System Analysis – This subject aims to provide knowledge of the power system networks. This includes operation of modern power system synchronous machines and power transmission.
Programmable Logic Controller – This subject enables the students to learn the basic functions characteristics and application of PLC. The basic programming is emphasized in the control circuit design.
Electrical Installation Design – This course focuses on the design techniques fore residential, commercial and industrial Electrical Systems. It includes the resizing of protective devices, cables and switch boards, the selection of standby generators the design and choice of lighting system and the analysis of lighting life cycles.
